A proven leader in the field of public relations, Cathi Douglas is accredited by the Public
Relations Society of America and spent a year as president of Orange County PRSA .Six years
of her career was spent as a senior executive at a full-service PR agency; she also served 19 years
in higher education, first at Chapman University as its first full-time public relations director and
then in strategic communications at CSUF.
In 2018 she served as president of the Orange County chapter of IABC, the International Assn.
of Business Communicators, and remains on the board as senior delegate. She will represent
Orange County at the international conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, in June.
Cathi’s extensive background in public relations is enhanced by many years of work as an
award-winning journalist, writing and editing various newspapers and magazines. Her first job
was reporting and copy editing for the Orange County Register. She previously served as
assistant city editor and feature editor for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and managing editor of
Sea, the magazine for boating in the West.
Cathi retired in 2014 from Cal State Fullerton, where she served as founding editor of Titan, the
university’s nationally recognized magazine. In July, she will celebrate five years as president of
Cathi Douglas Communications, an Orange County-based boutique firm that provides seasoned
public relations, writing and editing services to nonprofit, higher education and consumer clients.
